 Red Brontosaurus Records is located in the heart of San Diego's North Park off of University Avenue. The shop has a small but intriguing storefront, and inside you'll find one of a few hardworking and dedicated people maintaining this cozy shop. It is filled with a collection of retro, classic, beloved and maybe hated games, records and movies. There are so many to count that entire walls have been dedicated to each category. The store, though packed, has quite a lot of room inside holding all these treasures. The left side is a DVD library of films and movies, the center is filled with an amazing variety of vinyl records, and the right side caters to everything retro and classic video gaming. Near the back of the shop is the large painting of the bright red mascot, as well as DJ and audio equipment. This equipment can be conveniently rolled away so that live local music can be played and hosted here, which happens every now and again. Most of the items for sale are a bit older as far as release dates go, but that is definitely not a bad thing. The movies are hit or miss as far as critical reception and acclaim but the selection is vast. All music is in record form and most fits in the punk or indie genre. I feel the retro video game products available here impressed me the most, customers can find just about anything. Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Xbox and Dreamcast controllers, accessories, games and systems are all beautifully displayed alongside each other. Everything you buy has been tested to work, and the staff is very welcoming and upfront. I spoke with Matt, a regular employee at the shop, who says the idea is to "try and take what we enjoy and give it back." Whether your looking to get a cult classic movie, a new favorite record or an old video game for that nostalgia feeling, Red Brontosaurus Records has you covered. From the Staff: Hi! We're a bunch of dummies who really like having stuff. Mostly Records, Video Games and Movies! We started out a student run co-op LINK where our main goal was to give fair prices on quality products for the students and staff. Now we have a dirty little store in North Park where we do the same thing. We are always looking for new products and pay pretty decent prices for them. Our emphasis is on having a lot of new Punk, Pop-Punk, Hardcore and Indie. We have a smaller but quality selection of New Blues, Country/Folk, Oi!, Metal, Pop, Soul, Reggae, Comps/Soundtracks, and Rock n Roll (Garage, Surf, R&B, Etc.). We also carry a large selection of Classic Rock.
