The Cowboy, The Archer and the Samurai And so it begins... Well technically season 4 of the Walking Dead has just ended but with a season finale that was intended to amp you up with an adrenaline rush that only true Walking dead fans can appreciate. Trying to introduce people to TWD during season 4 is like throwing them in a cage match during a royal rumble...with chairs...and tables...and ladders. Oh my! With so much going on all at once as much as I hate to say it if you didn't start from episode one you might find it difficult to gain immediate interest or at least that's what I've heard from non-fans. People seem to forget as classic George A. Romero 101 established, Yes this is a show about blood curdling, flesh eating zombies but more importantly this is the story about what people become in this doomsday apocalyptic scenario. What would you be willing to do to survive? How far can you be pushed emotionally and physically? These are inter-dimensional characters with depth and precision. This season we saw a pack of somewhat marauder type survivors when Daryl got lost after Beth was mysteriously abducted. I use the term pack deliberately as these ruthless bastards and their code of prison like ethics prompted them to brutalize one of their own like a pack of wild dogs. Daryl joined their group just long enough to later reunite with Rick. Meanwhile Maggie just couldn't get enough of digging into rotting corpses & using them as a finger paint to leave signs behind for Glenn to a last find her with his new gang of companions whom, of which claim to be in route to Washington on mission to resolving the outbreak. We saw Michonne and Carl spend some quality time. While Rick turned over to a dark place to keep his son from being brutally raped by chomping into a man’s throat and pulling out his artery, a scene straight out of the comic. Carol & Tyreese (w/ baby Judith) went through one of the seasons biggest shockers when mentally traumatized Lizzie took a turn for the worst & gutted her younger sister Mika. Leaving Carol with no other option but to put her down like Old Yeller. Also Carol finally came clean to Tyreese about killing Karen which surprisingly did not go too bad...I think? To avid followers of TWD lore we are all under the impression that Terminus (Meaning "The End" in Latin) is home sweet home to those lovable cannibal bastards we read so much about. The season ended with Rick and most of the group held captive in an old train cart surrounded by 20+ guns in all high ground. Fortunately his survivor instinct provoked him to stash some weapons outside the cage--I mean gates of Terminus prior. Ending the scene with the infamous stare of death from Andrew Lincoln & the epic soundtrack, declaring, "These people do not know who they're messing with." So even though it took a while to finally get to this point after so much darn character development. Be assured the poop is set to hit the fan once season 5 kicks off later this October and with no main character deaths expect plenty of those. In comparison to previous finales of TWD this one beat out season three's upset in my opinion. Keeping my fingers crossed the writers deliver more shockers. Questions on my mind, where the hell is Beth? Is she w/ our comic derived priest character? Or was she what was cooking on the grill? Is it up to Carol and Tyreese to save the day? Is Terminus really the cannibals? Some speculation online suggests Maggie's burning picture was a premonition of sorts to her up & coming death all speculation of course. Will Abraham & Rosita ever get Gene (Dr. Mullet) to Washington? Well comic readers know the answer to that but when will Rick's group find out? So in conclusion get caught up on the previous seasons or check out the comic. As I feel it does not in any way interfere with the story line of the show as we've seen so many curve balls throw off you damn comic enthusiasts and all your damn spoilers.
